PEACE HOUSE - BOONE

Boone, North Carolina has been chosen to be the one of the locations of a global initiative to promote Peace, Development and Environmental issues and programs. The Gol Iluminado Foundation has recognized Boone as a unique rural community initiative to implement a United Nations Sport program for underprivileged children and youth at risk.

will spearhead a global awareness and support campaign for the World Peace Day - PEACE 0921 movement that will help implement Peace, Development and Environmental initiatives and awareness programs into communities throughout the world. Stay Tuned for Updates!

The Town of Boone was incorporated in 1872 and its current population is 14,132. Boone has the highest elevation (3,300 feet) of any town of its size (population over 10,000) east of the Mississippi River. Located off the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway, Boone offers its residents and visitors a four-season playground for sports and outdoor activities. Boone is recognized by travel journalists as an "ultimate outdoor adventure destination" in the Southeast. It is also home to Appalachian State University, the Appalachian Regional Medical Center, scores of businesses, large and small as well as tourist attractions and a progressive school system consistently ranked highly for its excellence. Boone acquired its name from the famous pioneer and explorer, Daniel Boone, who on several occasions camped at a site generally agreed to be within the present city limits.


Boone is an extremely unique place to live, as well as an enjoyable destination to visit. There has always been an insight in this beautiful mountain town towards Environmental causes and Peace related issues. The residents and students of this vibrant academic community have a passion towards the creative and artistic and have historically demonstrated a social responsibility towards families and children in need and at risk.


PEACE HOUSE Boone will be a “House Of Peace”, a center that provides information and education. Proceeds from PEACE HOUSE products, goods and services as well as Events and Activities will be utilized to implement a United Nations Sport for Development and Peace initiative for children and families in Boone and Watauga County. Your purchases, donations and contributions are tax deductible through the GOL ILUMINADO FOUNDATION, a 501(c)(3) Federal Non-Profit Organization which will implement the PEACE HOUSE initiatives and programs in Boone. The PEACE HOUSE is designed as an instrument and platform of global Peace and Development, as well as an Educational Center for Environmental issues,
Diversity Awareness and understanding.


This is a global initiative and movement to bring awareness and support to the International Day of Peace - World Peace Day 0921. The inaugural PEACE 0921 FESTIVAL will take place September 20th & 21st, 2008.

LOCATION - Elias Figueroa visits Boone


Elias Figueroa, Chairman of the GOL ILUMINADO FOUNDATION is accompanied by Ariel Nicastro at the site of the future PEACE HOUSE in Boone. 'Don Elias' attended the Playmakers performance of 'John Lennon & Me' at the Farthing Auditorium, toured the ASU campus and visited Watauga High School. He was here to unveil his Foundations plans to implement a United Nations Sport for Development and Peace Program for children in Watauga County. (read linked article)
